The Managing Director of the Limburghal, the Barenzaal and Thor Central, all events venues in the Limburg city of Genk, has been sacked amid allegations of Fraud. The alleged fraud came to light last week. The Chair of the three venues’ Board of Directors says that large sums of money are involved.
Managing Director of Limburghal and other events venues in Genk fired: “We have uncovered fraud”
The man that has been fired was the managing director of Meet @ Genk, the organisation that is responsible for the three publically-owned events venues in Genk.
The Chair of Meet @ Genk’s board, local councillor Annita Laporte (Christian democrat) told VRT “His contract was terminated with immediate effect. Last week documented evidence emerged of fraud”.
Meet @ Genk has now launched an investigation to find the extent of the fraud. This will be carried out together with the organisation’s legal team.
Meet @ Genk will not elaborate on which type of fraud is involved.
Ms Laporte told VRT News that “One instance of fraud is enough to ensure that someone is not allowed back. Because this is inadmissible”.
External auditors will be brought in to examine why the fraud didn’t come to light before. The way in which the organisation’s board functions and the functioning of the organisation itself will also be examined by the auditors.
The person that was dismissed by Meet @ Genk was not available for comment.
