Next weekend, world class darts players will descend on Antwerp for the first edition of the Flanders Darts Trophy. For one, Dimitri Van den Bergh, aka Dancing Dimi, is looking forward to playing in his hometown. 20,000 tickets have already been sold for this tournament, but some are still available.

From 6 to 8 September, for 3 days, top darters will compete against each other at the Antwerp Expo. Just who is playing who remains a secret until the draw. ‘But the darters you see on television every week can be expected in Antwerp this weekend,’ says Alexander Algoet, one of the organisers.
Dimitri Van den Bergh, better known as ‘Dancing Dimi’, and Mike De Decker are already certs to compete. ‘I was born and raised in the Antwerp district of Merksem, so it's great to be able to play darts so close to home for once. My mum and my grandparents grew up in nearby Wilrijk,’ say leading darts player Dimitri Van den Bergh.
The player from Merksem (Antwerp) is aiming for a win. ‘Only then will I really be satisfied. I want to make it to the finals. That would give my confidence a boost and that’s something I need at the moment.’
Mike De Decker, who hails from Mechelen (Antwerp Province), is more easily satisfied. ‘I'll be very happy if I win my first round. After that we'll see. I'm already in good shape and my mental state is also very good at the moment.’
