Belgium’s largest parcel locker is on Philips site in Leuven

Leuven solidifies its reputation as a leader in emission-free delivery by adding another package locker to its collection – and the biggest one in the country at that

With 184 lockers and weighing 3.5 tons, it is Belgium’s largest parcel locker, and it is now open at the Philips Site in Heverlee, a district of Leuven. The location was strategic: A whole lot of people pass by every day, heading to one of the offices or the major Sportoase sports and recreation complex located on the site.

The new set of lockers replaces an existing one – an ongoing project by Bpost. “The older models are being replaced by newer ones to offer better customer services,” says Bpost spokesperson Mathieu Goedefroy. “Sending packages is now super fast. You don’t need to stand in line, you don’t need to wait. You just scan a barcode in the app and send your package. Or you pick up your package whenever it suits you – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

No Belgian will have to drive more than six minutes to get to a pick-up point

Leuven is committed to CO2-free package delivery, with 40% of the most-used parcel lockers in Belgium located in the city. It is home to nearly 29 package lockers, with another five on the way.

Bpost is increasing its number of package lockers in other cities as well. “We currently have 1,116 package lockers placed in Belgium, and the number keeps growing. Our goal is that no Belgian will have to drive more than six minutes to get to a pick-up point.”
