A fire has killed one person in the Brussels municipality of Etterbeek. The terraced house was completely burnt out and an adjacent house was so badly damaged that it is uninhabitable.
The Brussels fire brigade was called to the fire in Camille Coquilhatstraat shortly before 9.00 on Thursday.
“When we arrived, the whole house was on fire and the flames were spreading through the roof to the neighbouring houses,” a fire brigade spokesperson said.
The occupant died in the fire, the spokesperson confirmed. A neighbouring building is uninhabitable and local authorities are seeking temporary accommodation for the residents. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
