It is going to be very warm today, particular in the west of the country. The Royal Meteorologic institute KMI has issued a Code Amber weather warning for heat that is applicable in East Flanders, West Flanders (with the exception of coastal areas) and Hainaut Province.
It is set to be an exceptionally warm day with temperatures reaching as high as 36°C in some areas. On Sunday KMI issued a Code Amber warning for the whole country. However, this has since been revised and is now only applicable to (most of) West Flanders, East Flanders and Hainaut. This is because it is a little less hot than had been originally forecast. A Code Yellow warning is in force in the rest of the country.
It is likely that temperatures in the west of Belgium will reach 35°C or even 36°C. There and elsewhere in the country people are advised to drink enough water, to wear light clothing and to stay out of the sun.
