The other driver, whose Mercedes car had turned over, was found to be four times over the legal limit for alcohol. It was not the first time that the man (photo above right), who is in his 50s, had been caught drink driving. In the past he had been issued with several bans.

The family’s Opel Corsa was found a distance from the road. All three people inside the vehicle were dead.

In her appeal on Facebook Melissa Andries, the sister of Janick Andries, the man that died in the accident, wrote "The only thing that can give us a tiny bit of comfort is that they are hopefully didn’t feel anything. As a family, we are trying to picture what exactly happened to my brother, sister-in-law and our wonderful Maithé."

Melissa Andries calls on anyone that can shed more light on exactly what happened on Saturday night to get in touch with the police.
