Roadworks on E313 motorway in Ranst, expect delays during the forthcoming weekend

During the weekend the Flemish Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) will carry out work on a new bridge over the E313 motorway at Ranst in Antwerp Province. For the duration of the work (Friday evening to Monday morning) traffic in both directions will have to use two narrow lanes and this is expected to result in traffic jams.

The work will get under way on Friday evening at 9 pm and will continue until 5am on Monday. Traffic in both directions will have to use two narrowed lanes. This will cause disruption for motorists travelling between Antwerp and Turnhout (Antwerp Province) and Limburg Province and vice versa. A 50km/h speed limit will be in force.

The weather forecast for this weekend looks promising and this means that many people will probably want to head for the coast. On Saturday and Sunday heavy traffic and jams are expected between 10 am and 3 pm on the Antwerp-bound carriageway.

The work is being carried out to replace a bridge over the motorway that was damaged a couple of years ago in an accident involving a lorry. A second weekend of work on the new bridge will be carried out from 30 August to 2 September.
