The 15th edition of the Zoute Grand Prix has been presented in Knokke-Heist. The exclusive classic car and sports car event was in financial trouble, but it has been taken over by entrepreneurs Marc Coucke and Jan Peeters. They promise a better experience for both VIP guests and those coming to the event without a ticket.
Coucke and Peeters announced their plans on Thursday for the upcoming edition of the Zoute Grand Prix in October. “The concept remains the same, but this year it will be both more exclusive and more inclusive,” said Coucke.
“That means those who buy VIP tickets will have more space and feel more like VIPs, but also that the hundreds of thousands of people who come to watch for free will feel like they really belong.”
What is new is that there will be one central location for the event where both the old-timers and the newest car models will be on display.
Mayor Jan Morbee is already enthusiastic, not least because the future of the car, art and lifestyle event is assured. The organisation was in financial trouble, but now has new investors.
“Losing this event would have been more than a shame,” he said, “just because it fits in so well with Knokke-Heist. I have every confidence in Coucke, who is not only a personal friend, but also a friend of our municipality. He has made huge investments in Knokke-Heist before, and each time with great success.”
