Martens or more bats?

The first series and film were about Belgium as a whole. The new series and film will focus is on Flanders.’

The approach will also be slightly different too. “It will still be about the wonderful fauna and flora that is to be found here in this country, but in the new season we intend to delve into topics in more depth and provide more scientific background”, cameraman Pim Niesten told VRT News.

“The camera work in series was very classical. Now we're thinking about how we can make it a bit more innovative. I'm thinking about new elements in that can be brought into the format, but also about drones, cable cameras etc. We hope to leave the viewer speechless.”

‘We didn't have time to show the marten in series one. I definitely want to make up for that this time around. But I'm thinking about bats too. I filmed them for the first series, but they didn't make it into the final cut. A second series should remedy this”.

‘But even the little insects can be fullof surprises. I'm really looking forward to all the cool insect stories that I can tell. There are so many in Flanders, the choice is huge.”

There is lots to look forward to, although it won’t be until 2026 at the earliest that we will be able to enjoy the second series of ‘Onze natuur’.
