World’s biggest Magritte artwork stuns visitors in the Brussels downtown

Brussels has a new sight and anyone passing the Rogierplein in downtown Brussels cannot fail to see it. It’s a giant version of Magritte's self-portrait ‘Le fils de l'homme’ (The Son of Man).  It now features on the facade of the Cardo Brussels, a new hotel in the Brussels borough of Sint-Joost-ten-Node.

The Cardo Brussels hotel , part of the Marriott Bonvoy group, opened on the Rogierplein a few weeks ago. The front of the 30-storey building now features a giant version of ‘Le fils de l'homme’, René Magritte's world-famous self-portrait showing his face covered by a green apple.

According to the Cardo, this is the largest Magritte artwork in the world. The hotel commissioned the artwork to highlight its long-standing partnership with the Magritte Foundation . The intention is to feature a new work of art on the hotel's facade every three years.

The Margritte artwork towers over the Rogierplein, named after an early Belgian liberal PM.
