For the 4th summer running Brussel’s only open-air swimming pooling has opened to the public. The Flow pool near to the canal in Anderlecht will be open every day throughout the summer. What’s more unlike in previous year’s, Flow will no longer close once the summer season is over. In future the pool will welcome visitors all year round. New this year is FLOW CHAUD, a sauna located next to the pool.
Paul Steinbrück of Pool is Cool, the non-profit organisation behind FLOW told VRT News that FLOW is happy with the new addition and expects the sauna to attract at lot of extra visitors.
"Anyone that knows the Belgian weather also knows that a sauna can come in handy in even during the summer. The sauna will also be open in autumn and winter too, as in future Flow will remain open all year round. During the summer months, FLOW will welcome visitors every day. Its opening times will be more limited though outside the summer season".
More outdoor swimming pools in Brussels
This is the 4th summer that FLOW has been open. The capital’s only open-air pool opened for the first time in 2021. When it was set up, the intention was that FLOW would serve as an example for other open-air swimming pool projects in the capital. However, as yet no other open-air pools have opened.
"It's not new that good things take time in Brussels. There are plans for other outdoor swimming pools, such as the swimming pond in Neerpede," Paul Steinbrück told VRT News. "There is movement, but there is still some way to go."
