Koning Filip has given the Flemish nationalist leader Bart De Wever another week to pave the way for the start of negotiations on the formation of a new federal government. The King made Mr De Wever “Informateur” a week ago. On Wednesday afternoon Mr De Wever brought the King up to date on the progress he has made so far.
Mr De Wever arrived at the Royal Palace at around 3pm and stayed there for around three-quarters of an hour. It is unclear how much (if any) progress has been made as Mr De Wever is remaining tight-lipped. He also refrained from comment when he left the Royal Palace at around 3:50pm.
Mr De Wever is known to be in favour of a coalition that includes the parties that make up (or will make up) the Flemish and Walloon government.
