E40 motorway to be closed for the next few nights at Erpe-Mere

On Wednesday night work on the final stage of the installation of new bridges over the E40 motorway at Erpe-Mere (East Flanders) will get under way. On Wednesday night and on several of the nights that follow the work will cause the complete closure of one carriageway of the motorway.

Published:

The two bridges carry a railway line and a road used by local traffic over the motorway that links West and East Flanders with Brussels. The work is due to be completed by 4 July.

On Wednesday night and Thursday night the Ghent-bound carriageway will be closed completely between the Aalst and Erpe-Mere junctions. The motorway will close at 10pm and reopen at 5am.

The Brussels-bound carriageway will be closed on Friday night and Saturday night (21 and 22 June) from 10pm until 8am. The motorway will also be closed on the night of Wednesday 3 July between 10pm and 5am.

Traffic will be diverted via the N46, the N9 and the R41.
