In a few months’ time motorists travelling on the E313 motorway between Lummen and Hasselt in Limburg Province will be able to use a new rush-hour lane. This should help relief congestion there during the morning and evening rush-hours. The work will involve the complete resurfacing of the Liège-bound carriageway of the motorway. Bridges will have to be modified and gantries with dynamic road signs being installed above the road.

During the work the number of lanes available will be reduced or the lanes that are available will be narrowed. The preparations for the work took place during the weekend. From this morning, traffic on the Liège-bound carriageway is reduced to 1 lane between the Lummen and Hasselt-West intercetions. The Zolder-Lummen and Hasselt-West exits will remain accessible during the work. On the Antwerp-bound carriageway 2 lanes will still be available. However, they will be narrowed between Hasselt-West and Lummen.

The Flemish Traffic Centre also expects congestion issues at on the E314 at Lummen as traffic coming from Genk and Leuven approaches the intersection with the E313.
