The Antwerp Chambers have decided that former VRT radio presenter Sven Pichal (photo above) will stand trial accused of the possession and distribution of child pornography. Sven Pichal was arrested at the end of August last year as part of an investigation into images of child sexual abuse.

The former radio presenter is suspected of possessing and distributing images of child abuse. The investigation has now been completed and the Antwerp Chambers have decided that he should stand trial. When the trial will take place has not yet been decided.
Heidi De Pauw of Child Focus that has taken civil action on behalf of the victims told VRT News "This concerns various periods, throughout the past 10 years. These are images of severe sexual abuse of children, across all ages. Disgusting, repulsive images of the rape of very young children, even babies."
Drugs charges
On Wednesday Sven Pichal will appear before the Antwerp Chambers this time to hear whether he will face trial for the possession and sale of small quantities of drugs.
During a search of Sven Pichal’s locker here at the VRT’s Broadcaster Centre, police found small quantities of drugs that VRT News sources say were cocaine. The investigation also concerned designer drugs, which he allegedly sometimes had delivered to his work at the VRT from the Netherlands.
