84-year-old Eliane from Vilvoorde able to return to her flat as lift is fixed after 4.5 months
The lift in the building where Eliane lives in a second floor flat broke down on 6 February. There are a total of 26 steps between the second floor and the ground floor of the building on the Stationlei. The pensioner did try and reach the ground floor a couple of times but fell. One of the falls was serious and after that she didn’t dare leave her flat.
Just over two months ago Eliane fell again, this time inside her flat. She dislocated her shoulder and had to move to a care home. As she now uses a walking frame it was impossible for her to return home as long as the lift remained out of order. However, earlier this week Eliane received some good news from building management company. “According to them the lift has been working again since Wednesday. Now I will be able to go home once I am better. I am so looking forward to it”.
