A 75-year-old woman has been killed in an accident involving her car and a paramedics' vehicle in the Limburg town of Tongeren. The accident happened on the Bilzersteenweg at around 6pm on Tuesday evening. The paramedics were on their way to a callout in the village of Hoeselt.
It was at the crossroads of the Bilzersteenweg (N730) the Driesenstraat that the fatal accident happened. The woman drove out of the Driesestraat and crashed into the paramedic’s emergency vehicle. The Fire Service were call to free her from the wreckage of her car. The woman died at the scene. A paramedic suffered slight injuries.
Officers from the Tongeren-Herstappe Local Police Service attended the scene and the Bilzersteenweg was closed for a time on Tuesday evening. The Limburg prosecutor’s office dispatched an accident investigation’s expert to the scene of the crash.
