A suspect has been identified and arrested in the investigation into the murder of a 31-year-old man in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht in September last year. The suspect has admitted to having brought the person (or persons) that fired the shots that killed the man to and from the scene of the crime. The suspect has been charged with complicity in the murder and has been electronically tagged.
At around 1:10am on the night of 14 September 2023 a man was gunned down on the Wayezstraat, the main shopping street in the centre of Anderlecht. A white Peugeot 3008 followed a grey VW Golf 8 down the Wayezstraat. The Peugeot overtook the Golf and forced it to stop. Several people got out of the Peugeot and fired several shots at the driver of the Golf, who died of his injuries.
The gunmen then got back into the white Peugeot and sped away towards the Dapperheidsplein and the De Formanoirstraat. The vehicle was found later a couple of kilometres away on the Zaadstraat.
In a statement the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said that “A suspect has been arrested. He stands accused of complicity in murder. He is suspected of having transported the shooter(s) after the shooting. The suspect spent some time in custody and is currently under electronic surveillance. Meanwhile, the criminal is still ongoing."
