The Antwerp darts player Kim Huybrechts has broken his right collarbone. He says that he was attacked and kicked by a complete stranger after Thursday’s Belgium Cup Final in Brussels. He says that he was attacked while he and a group of other Antwerp supporters were on their way back to their coach.

Kim Huybrechts told VRT News that "We had to go through a park and there some Moroccan youths were provoking the Antwerp supporters because Antwerp had lost. The queue to join the coaches had slowed because of this and me and a friend decided to just walk past the youths. Then suddenly I was pushed from behind and then struck with a crash helmet. When I tried to to go after the assailant I was tripped up and I. Then I was kicked again."

Kim Huybrechts then decided to head for the coach as quickly as possible. "I didn't want to risk things getting any worse. Once we got back, I went straight to A&E. There I was told that my right collarbone is broken in two places."

As the fractures are on the same side of his body as his throwing arm Kim Huybrechts won’t be able to play darts for several weeks. "Fortunately, they did tell me that fractures to the collarbone are among the fractures that heal fastest. I will be out of action for between 4 and 6 weeks. I’m hoping it will only be 4 weeks, because there is a tournament scheduled for then." The tournament is a qualification tournament for the Euro Tour in Antwerp.

Brussels police confirm that there were several fights after the Cup Final but have no information concerning any injuries.
