Flemish Government makes funding available to allow 72 crèches to extend their opening hours
The Flemish Government is keen to encourage initiatives that provide childcare outside normal opening hours. The crèches that will receive the additional funding will remain open for an average of 1 hour a day longer than the mandatory 11 per day tha is usually between 7am and 6pm on weekdays. They can choose to open an hour early or close an hour later on weekdays or if they wish open at weekends or on public holidays.
Crèches that are to be given extra support
The Flemish Government says that it has listened to the wishes of parents that, for example, work irregular hours.
In a statement Ms Crevits said that "With this investment we are offering financial encouragement to crèches to be open at times that are atypical so that parents that work outside these times are able to get childcare”.
