The odd shower is always good for the garden.

After a showery week 24°C could be on the cards by Saturday

The first week of the Flemish Easter holidays started with heavy showers. The weather during the next few days remains changeable with showers every day. From Friday, improvement is on the cards and rain will give way to clearer spells. Temperatures may climb to 20°C and by Saturday could even reach 24°C.

An area of showery weather is crossing Belgium from west to east today. Expect local heavy showers. Towards the end of the afternoon, clearer weather moves in, and it will also become drier.

Highs will range from 8°C in the High Fens to 12°C or 13°C in Flanders. Winds will be moderate to quite strong and gusts can reach around 70 km/h, the Met Office warns.

Wednesday will start cloudy with rain in most areas. During the afternoon it will become partly cloudy with clearer skies and showers.

Maximum temperatures fluctuate between 8°C and 10°C in the Ardennes and around 13°C or 14°C degrees in other areas. Winds will be moderate from the southwest at first but will become quite strong to strong at sea.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with regular periods of rain or showers. Expect highs between 10°C on the peaks and 15°C in central parts. Moderate southwest winds will also become quite strong inland and sometimes strong at sea.

20 degrees possible from Friday

At the end of the week, warmer weather arrives. Friday will start with cloudy periods and some showers, but it will get warmer later in the day with highs of 18°C in the Ardennes rising to 20°C to 21°C in Flanders. Expect gusty conditions.

Saturday promises to be a great spring day with mild and sunny weather. In the course of the day, some cloud will move in, but it will remain dry. Highs top 20°C.  The Met Office says 24°C could be on the cards.
