The fashion designer Dries Van Noten (65) has confirmed that he is to quit as a designer at his eponymous fashion label at the end of June. In a statement the world-renowned designer said "I want to shift my focus to all the things I never had time for. But I am sure that the future of DVN remains bright."
Dries Van Noten says that with the success story that is his label, his dream of becoming "a voice in fashion" became a reality. "I am sad, but at the same time happy to tell that I am stepping down at the end of June".
“I have been preparing for this moment for a while and I think it is time to make way for a new generation of talent to bring their vision to the brand."
Dries Van Noten is still working on the 2025 spring-summer men’s collection himself, leaving the women's collection to his studio team. "I am confident they will do a great job," he says. His successor will be announced in due course. “However, I will remain involved, the Flemish fashion icon said.
In Puig he trusts
Dries Van Noten says he is confident that Spanish group Puig, which acquired a majority stake in DVN in 2018, will continue to build the brand. "Since Puig became part of our business, we have been able to continue to grow like we wanted to. We have added beauty and perfume lines, expanded accessories, added e-commerce and opened exciting and innovative shops. The brand is now thriving", Dries Van Noten said.
