Belgian rail company NMBS anticipates serious disruption for several hours. The Eurostar was stuck in Schaarbeek in northern Brussels, while it was examined by officers. Passengers were informed of the bomb alert via the public address system. Train traffic around the capital was suspended for a while.

Many were the rail passengers who experienced disruption this moring as services bound for the Flemish and Belgian capital were held up outside Brussels.  Rail company NMBS now says the problem is sorted, but passengers should take account of possible delays.  The company urges rail passengers to consult its app and in-station screens for the latest information.
