The far right Vlaams Belang party says a comprehensive ban on all migration to Belgium isn’t necessary. The party insists high-skilled workers from western countries are welcome here. Vlaams Belang bases its position on research it commissioned into what migrants cost and what they contribute to our society. The party says asylum seekers and migrants from counties like those in the Maghreb cost Belgium an awful lot. That’s a form of migration the party is eager to stop. The party wants to keep the door open to high-skilled migrants from other parts of the world including Europe and North America.
