Police intercept suspect with Kalashnikov in the Marollen District

During checks last night police in the Marollen District of the City of Brussels stopped a suspect armed with a Kalashnikov rifle. Whether or not there is a link with drug-trafficking or the recent shootings in Brussels is not yet clear.  The suspect was intercepted not far from where somebody was shot dead only yesterday morning.

Much information is not yet available, but police were able to intercept a person armed with a Kalashnikov during random checks last night. The suspect was stopped in Kuipersstraat in the Marollen District of the City.

The neighbourhood has been troubled for several days, with several recent shootings. One of these shootings that resulted in somebody being shot dead yesterday morning happened only a kilometre away. Whether there is a link between the seizure of the Kalashnikov and the drug scene or the shootings is not yet clear.
