A video (below) that is currently doing the rounds on social media shows a brawl on the steps of Kortrijk station. The fight started after a heated argument between two groups of youths. The police have already been able to identify 8 of the youths involved in the fight. Those that have already been identified are both minors and adults. The acting Mayor of Kortrijk Ruth Vandenberghe (Mayor’s Team) told VRT News that it was not the first time that this kind of thing has happened in the vicinity of the station.

"Sadly, there are often issues with nuicence at the station. The police will now deploy extra patrols, not only visible patrols with uniformed offices, but also with officers in plain clothes. We are also going to speed up the procedure to open a new police station at the railway station itself”.
