Man who threatened Antwerp’s Jewish community with acid attack arrested
Last January, a woman from the Jewish community reported to Antwerp police that she had been threatened by a man on social media.
"Everything started in the comments under an article about the Israeli-Palestinian question," explains Antwerp police’s Willem Migom. "It then escalated. He harassed the woman in private messages, via text messages and in threats on her voicemail. The man also posted the woman's private data online."
Plans for an acid attack in Antwerp
A little later, the suspect then set his sights on the entire Jewish community in Antwerp. He declared his intention of committing an acid attack. The threats were taken seriously as the man was known to police on account of several serious and violent offences.
Police found the suspect was no longer living at his official domicile, but at the weekend, police were able to locate and apprehend him.
