Woman run over by her own car on hospital car park

A woman negotiating ticketing on the car park of the Imelda Hospital in Bonheiden (Antwerp Province) experienced more than she had bargained for.  The driver wanted to take her ticket from the machine but hadn’t driven close enough.  When she stepped out, she was run down by her own car.

The woman was visiting a patient at the Imelda Hospital and hadn’t really counted on being hospitalised there herself, but that is what happened.

When she stepped out of her car to collect her ticket her vehicle set in motion running down its owner.  The woman got stuck under the wheel and only an intervention by the fire service could free her.

Fire-fighters lifted the vehicle and had to dismantle part of the boom barrier to free the unfortunate woman.  Luckily, medical assistance was soon at hand and the woman was hospitalised at Imelda.
