Millions worth of luxury sports cars hidden in old Brussels warehouse

A remarkable find has been made in an old warehouse in central Brussels. Some 20 rare Ferraris and Porsches were gathering dust until the Aalter-based company Oldtimerfarm was alerted to the collection that had been found there. Soon the cars will be put up for sale.

It's believed it was at least a decade ago that a cllector parked more than 20 exclusive sports cars in an old shed in central Brussels. They were then seemingly forgotten. During a 'barn find' - a term used for exceptional discoveries in forgotten places - the cars resurfaced. The find dates from last year, but news of it only recently emerged.

The exclusive fleet consists of 16 Ferraris and six Porsches. "The models date from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and are in good condition," says Xavier Molenaar of Oldtimerfarm. "They were neatly covered and were on the first floor, less damp than on the ground floor."

Unique

The business manager prefers not to comment on the exact amount, but they are probably worth several million euros. "The large number of Ferrari Testarossas, known from the series Miami Vice, is of particular interest," he says. Other eye-catching vehicles include rare air-cooled turbocharged Porsche 911s and S-models, the fastest in their day.

A top find is the yellow Ferrari 512 BB. "We suspect that only about a dozen of these were produced in this colour". That and its exceptional condition most likely make the sports car a one-of-a-kind in the whole world.

Unprecedented

"This is a very exceptional collection," Xavier Molenaar intimates. "Owners of similar cars usually sell their old models before buying new ones.  Twenty-two being discovered in the same place is unprecedented in Belgium." The likelihood of any more such finds hiding in Brussels seems low.

Very little is known about the owner. According to daily Het Laatste Nieuws he is a wealthy industrialist, who assembled the collection years ago and then moved abroad, but Xavier Molenaar cannot confirm this. The owner still wishes to remain anonymous. The exact location of the warehouse has not been disclosed either.

Currently, the cars are being made roadworthy. Afterwards, they will be marketed individually. From 26 January, the collection can be viewed at the Oldtimerfarm's showroom.
