A block of flats in the Antwerp district of Borgerhout was the target of an explosion last night. The perpetrators forced their way into the building and detonated an explosion in the entrance hall.
Police received reports of the umpteenth explosion in the northern port city shortly after 3:30AM. Antwerp police’s Willem Migom says officers attending the scene noticed that force had probably been used to open the front door of the building. An explosion or fireworks were detonated in the entrance hall outside the front door of a flat. The door was completely destroyed. The hall sustained considerable damage. The army bomb squad and forensic technicians attended the scene and examined the damage. Police are investigating whether the explosion is linked to a settling of accounts among drug traffickers.
