No dip in icy waters at Flow next Sunday after ice damages filtration system at Brussels' outdoor swimming pool

On recent Sundays Brussels open air swimming pool Flow attracted countless visitors keen for a dip in the icy waters of the Anderlecht pool. Unfortunately, the pool’s filtration system has been no match for the recent cold snap and it is now damaged.

Any dip in the pool was reserved for ice bears as the water temperatures are barely a few degrees above zero.  Unfortunately, the pool’s filtration system proved no match for the extreme cold of recent days.  It has now been damaged and no swimming will be permitted next Sunday.

As a result of the extreme cold of recent days ice ended up in the filtration system and that did the damage.

“Water quality cannot be guaranteed” says the pool management.  “In the interest of safety we have decided to cancel next Sunday’s opening".

Pool is Cool, the not-for-profit organisation that manages the pool, will now get the system defrosted to allow repairs to go ahead.  “Once the filtration system has been repaired, water quality will be thoroughly checked using lab tests. Temperatures are expected to rise next week enabling the necessary work to be carried out quickly”.

Pool is Cool is an organisation that hopes to help bring a permanent open-air swimming pool to the Belgian and Flemish capital.
