YouTube influencer Acid faces libel charges after wrongly identifying Sanda Dia killers (VIDEO)

Nathan Vandergunst aka Acid is standing trial after naming four members of student fraternity Reuzegom in connection with the death of student Sanda Dia during a hazing.  Acid, a YouTube influencer, identified four students in a video he posted on social media, but one of the four was neither implicated nor prosecuted and he and his family have taken Nathan Vandergunst to court.

The YouTube video in which Acid identifies four students collected over 200,000 views.  The erroneously named student and his family, who run a restaurant, were inundated by hate messages and decided to take Acid to court, where he faces charges of libel and electronic stalking.

The sentences meted out to those held responsible for Sanda Dia’s death have widely been criticised as too lenient.  Acid’s role in publicising the identity of those involved have made him popular and scores of fans turned up at Bruges courthouse today to show their support.  In fact the courtroom was too small to accommodate them all.

A verdict in this case is expected within the month.
