Diabetes drug Ozempic will hardly be available in Belgium, if at all, until at least the end of June. The date has been put back yet again.
The manufacturer cannot keep up with demand. That is because Ozempic also works as a weight-loss drug and is therefore also sought after by non-diabetics. Because of the shortage, Ozempic may now only be prescribed to diabetics and people who are very seriously overweight. Meanwhile Raaibelsus, a tablet in pill form, can be used as an alternative by diabetic patients.
