The Flemish Government launched the Job Bonus to ensure that those on low incomes get a little bit extra and to make the financial difference between working and not working greater. The job bonus was paid out for the first time at the beginning of last year. Payment of the job bonus for those that had been on modest incomes during 2023 began in November.

Anyone that earned 2,700 euro/month or less between January and June and/or 2,900 euro/month or less between July and December last year is entitled to the Job Bonus. A total of 947,317 people in Flanders are entitled to the payment. This is 20% more than was the case this time last year. The average amount paid out is 235.72 euro. The maximum amount is 650 euro. However, only 0.2% of Flemings in employment are entitled to this.

The sectors employing the most people that are entitled to a Job Bonus are temping agencies, cleaning and domestic assistance, childcare, retail and haulage.

Letters informing those entitled to a Job Bonus payment that they will receive their Job Bonus soon are sent by post and via the eBox digital communication system.
