Nick Bril, chef at Michelin star restaurant the Jane in Antwerp, ran down one of his employees in his car this morning. The victim is a 37-year-old intern, who is fighting for his life. The celebrated chef tested positive for alcohol when breathalyzed.

The accident happened on the restaurant carpark after the Jane’s New Year’s reception. Chef Bril is believed to have run over the victim as he left. Bril contacted the emergency services and the police who withdrew his licence. His car has been towed away for analysis. The chef’s lawyer told reporters a causal link between the accident and the chef’s positive test still needed to be established. There is speculation the victim was already on the ground before the chef ran over him.
