A dead dog has washed ashore in the coastal resort of Oostduinkerke. It was the seventh case in its kind in a short span of time. So far, it remains a mystery what is happening.
Earlier, 5 dead dogs had been found at the coastline in Oostduinkerke and 1 in Nieuwpoort. All the dead dogs belong to the same breed. All the cases go back to the past 7 weeks, all animals died young.
Police launched an appeal to witnesses. So far, it remains a mystery what happened. "We are keeping all options open. We even look across the border. The suggestion that the animals were drowned somewhere in the Westhoek before being carried to the sea by a river or a canal, looks strange to us", police said.
