The possible case of road rage we reported in Deurne (Antwerp) yesterday has turned out to be a regular road traffic accident. There is no question of road rage. Victims and the driver who left the scene have been questioned and confirm the same sequence of events.
Around 3AM on Wednesday a driver crashed into traffic lights in Deurne. Driver and a second person in the car were seriously injured. An eyewitness spoke of a second driver who had been rowing with the first driver and may have shunted his car towards the lights.
The second driver came forward in the course of Wednesday explaining he had stopped to provide assistance, but when more people gathered at the scene he had left. That may have left the impression he was fleeing the scene, but in reality was not the case. The first driver has confirmed this sequence of events.
In the event a poorly executed overtaking triggered the accident.
