A car that has been parked in Temse (East Flanders) in the same spot for two years now is being towed away. A prosecutor has ordered the vehicle’s removal after local residents repeatedly complained to the police. The car’s owner has moved and attempts by the police to contact him have failed.

Police put a clamp on the vehicle in February but weren’t able to get the car towed away immediately. “We have to follow procedure” explained officer Katty De Bruyn. “The vehicle was no longer insured, is now no longer registered and hasn’t passed the car inspection”.
Colleagues from a different police service have repeatedly tried to contact the owner, but in vain. A call to the prosecutor’s office resulted in the go-ahead to get the vehicle towed. The owner will have to cough up the cost of the operation, when he can be found.
