A member of the public was stabbed in the Brussels Nieuwstraat on Christmas Eve and rushed to hospital.
The incident happened shortly after 8PM on Christmas Eve. “Emergency services were called to the Nieuwstraat to assist a member of the public who had sustained injuries as a result of a stabbing” Ilse Van de keere of Brussels police told Brussels media outlet Bruzz. “Our officers rushed to the scene and cordoned off the entire area”.
The perpetrator had clearly immediately fled the scene. On Christmas Day the victim was still receiving medical treatment at a hospital intensive care ward, but fears for their life had abated. An investigation is in full swing.
