A lost wedding ring once belonging to Roger Drieghe has at long last been found. The missing ring surfaced at a recycle shop in Hamme (East Flanders). Unfortunately, Roger died 10 years ago. It’s thought his daughter must have in avertedly taken the ring to the store when took his belongings in, because she is moving next year.
The daughter of the rightful owner was tracked down thanks to a post the thrift store placed on social media.
"The post was massively shared and that's how we were able to contact one of Roger and Emilienne's daughters. Their names and wedding date are engraved in the ring" explains the thrift store’s Ann Doran. At the recycle shop one of the staff members had found the ring in a piece of furniture.
One of Roger’s two daughters was only too pleased to came and collect the missing ring. She was so grateful that she even brought a gift for the honest finders. "It's like the happy ending to a fairy tale" says the store’s Ann Doran.
"We are very grateful to the finder"
Daughter Christine believes the ring may have ended up in boxes stored in their attic. "The boxes went to the thrift shop unopened. We are not going to lose the ring again! I’ve got to discuss it with my sister, but for now, I have put the ring by my parents' wedding photo, which is always in my living room”.
