The first Nightjet sleeper train service from Berlin arrived at Brussels South railway station on Tuesday morning. Brussels now has Nightjet sleeper train services to two cites, one to the Austrian capital Vienna and now also a service to and from the German capital Berlin. In addition to the Nightjet there is also an overnight rail service between Brussels and Berlin that is provided by European Sleeper.
First Nightjet sleeper train service arrives in Brussels from Berlin
The Austrian railway company ÖBB's Nightjet service will run three times a week between Brussels South and Berlin. It comes in addition to an existing Nightjet service between Brussels South and Vienna. The carriages to both Berlin and Vienna depart as one train. In the German city of Mannheim, the train is split.
The part of the train bound for Berlin is then coupled onto the Nightjet service that runs between Paris and Berlin. The part bound for Vienna is couple onto Paris to Vienna Nightjet train. Passengers will not have to change trains they simply stay put. It is hoped that from next autumn the service will become daily.
