Belgium to introduce entry ban on extremist Israeli settlers from the Israeli occupied West Bank

An entry ban on extremist settlers from the Israeli occupied West Bank is being introduced Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Flemish liberal) announced on X yesterday. "We see that the settlers in the West Bank are not respecting previous agreements and are expelling Palestinians from this territory. We have been looking at this for a while and a few weeks ago said that those convicted of acts of violence should no longer be allowed to enter Belgium" Mr De Croo told VRT NWS.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the US would impose travel restrictions on extremists from the occupied West Bank. "We are very pleased that the US has taken this decision. We are now looking at this with them and other European countries to ensure that the entry ban will be widely supported" the Belgian leader said.

How Israel will react to such a ban remains to be seen. "I think, as a politician, above all you also have to be a human being. We cannot let what we see happening to innocent civilians in the Middle East just happen like that without reacting and taking steps," De Croo noted.
