The burglars entered the premises via the door of the restaurant and quickly moved to the first floor.  There they proceeded to search the entire floor in search of booty.

“After we had finished work a colleague who lives in a studio apartment upstairs went up and noticed the pandemonium.  Everything had been upended and the burglars had headed off with our two safe deposit boxes” says manager Sam Wils.

“The safes contained the week’s taking, some 4,000 euros”.

The manager believes the burglar made their get-away via the roof: “On the carpark you can clearly see the mark where they threw the safe off the rood.  There are footprints on the solar panels”.

In addition to the 75 diners a full team of restaurant workers were also on the premises at the time of the heist: “It was busy.  There’s a great atmosphere.  Nobody expects thieves to head upstairs and steel your safe” says Sam Wils.

Police have attended the scene but there is no trace of the culprits.  The restaurant has launched an appeal on social media calling for witnesses to come forward.
