On Saturday, 11 November two people were found dead in a house in Borrekentstraat in Denderhoutem (East Flanders) They were a 54-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son. A search was mounted to try and find the only suspect in the case, a 51-year-old man that was the dead woman’s husband and the step-father of the young man that had been killed.

It soon became apparent that the man may have taken his own life. His car was found on the banks of the river Dender and witnesses reported having seen someone jump into the water.

Last week a search of the river was conducted near the Werfplein and the Tereos factory in Aalst. However, heavy rain meant that the search had to be aborted.

His body was found on Friday around 11 a.m. on Pierre Corneliskaai, between the Sint-Anna Bridge and the Zwartehoek Bridge. The police and fire brigade went to the scene.
