The Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo (Flemish liberal) met the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, on Thursday in Ramallah. This was the only meeting for the Belgian PM and his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, in the Palestinian Territories.
Mr. Abbas whose Fatah government is in office in the West Bank soundly condemned the attacks carried out on 7 October by Hamas, the Islamist organisation that controls the Gaza Strip.
Mr De Croo says that Thursday’s meeting was the first time that President Abbas has spoken in such clear terms on the subject.
