Germaine Vanderroost, a 100-year-old from Herne (Flemish Brabant), has died following a tragic accident. The woman experienced a nasty fall after a sheep that had broken out of a meadow next to her house crashed into her.
Germaine was a local celebrity. For many years, together with her husband, she had run the Farmers’ Union local store. She was active in the local community and a member of countless organisations as well as the local choir.
Her 100th birthday was quite a party and Germaine was even given a ride in an old-timer. Plans for 101st birthday in December were well underway.
Germaine died in hospital hours after the incident with the sheep.
