A red Latin dance dress and a long train designed by none other than Princess Delphine of Belgium: this is the outfit with which Miss Belgium Emilie Vansteenkiste is taking part in the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. "It is super nice to work with Princess Delphine," Emilie says.
Miss Belgium competes for Miss Universe crown with train designed by Princess Delphine
On 18 November, Emilie Vansteenkiste will represent Belgium at the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. There’s still a week and a half to go, but Emilie has already left for the Central American country. A busy programme awaits her, with many rehearsals, fittings, jury interviews and day trips, with the pageant itself as the highlight.
During the show, Emilie will don an outfit that combines her own personality and a Belgian component. "I am wearing my Latin dance dress, which is quite ‘emotional’ and personal," she told VRT. "I dance a lot, I also take part in competitions and wearing this dress I have already won several competitions. It feels good to wear the dress in El Salvador."
Hanging from her dress is a long train designed by Princess Delphine of Belgium. "We wanted an outfit that was both personal and Belgian, which is why we contacted her," Emilie says enthusiastically. "She was immediately on board; we didn't even have to insist."
"Princess Delphine is a super nice woman, we get along very well, so it is really nice to work with her," Emilie concludes. Whether the "royal" train will help her win, we will only know on 18 November.
