There has been another shooting in the Matonge area of the Brussels municipality of Elsene. The Brussels Judicial Authorities report that no one was injured in the shooting that is the latest in a series of incidents involving firearms in the area.

Another shooting in Brussels’ Matonge district

It is still unclear whether the incident was drugs-related as was the case with other recent shootings in the Matonge area. The Brussels Capital Elsene Local Police Service received reports that gunshots had been heard on the Waversteenweg, near to the Matonge Gallery at around 10pm om Sunday.
Bullet holes and cartridges were found at the scene. The police and the Judicial Authorities say that no one was injured in the shooting.
The incident was not the first shooting in the Matonge District in recent months. At the end of September a bystander was injured in an exchange of fire between drug gangs.
It is still too early to say whether Sunday night’s shooting was drug related. The Judicial Authorities’ investigation is still ongoing. The person or persons that fired the shots are still at large.
