Disruption visualised at Ghent-Saint- Peter's Station this morning

Rail services across Belgium are affected as a result of Storm Ciarán.  Rail company NMBS has modified the route of some 20 intercity services.  Six services are cancelled.

An 80km/h speed restriction is in force across the rail network.  High speed services are allowed to do 160km/h.  Most commuter services have been cancelled triggering delays elsewhere.

The rail company is trying to ease delays by restricting services and not allowing them to follow their entire route.  There is a limited impact on L and S services.

Replacement buses are running between Bruges and coastal stations.

Disruption is expected all day.  The rail company hopes to ease the speed restrictions after 6PM weather permitting.  NMBS urges passengers to consult its planning tool via the website or app.
