The news that an Examining Magistrate had decided to charge the two suspects was announced by the France’s National Anti-Terror Public Prosecutor's Office (PNAT).
The two suspects appeared before the Examining Magistrate on Monday. They have now been charged with participation in a terrorist organisation and complicity in a murder for which terrorism was a motive. They have been remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues into the links between the two and Abdesalem Lassoued, the 45-year-old Tunisian Islamist extremist that shot dead two Swedes with a machine gun and seriously injured a third Swedish football fan.
Police shot dead Lassoued, who was residing in Belgium illegally and for whom Tunisia had issued an extradition request. On the basis of information received from the judicial authorities in Belgium, France’s PNAT started an investigation that lead to the two suspects’ arrest.
